In 2021, why should I pay someone to do my recruiting for me, when I could do it myself?

2020 was a godawful year, so 2021 is being greeted with a lot of trepidation. But what if we told you, right now is the perfect time to hire? Struggling businesses, extended furloughs and large-scale organisational shuffling has meant that many professionals are re-thinking their careers. Add to that widespread layoffs, and one thing is certain: in the coming months there’s going to be an unprecedented surge of talented individuals looking for jobs. And eventually, when the pandemic subsides, the competition for the best talent is going to be fierce.

PA Business Support are perfectly placed to help small businesses get ahead of the curve. Why? Because we’re a small business ourselves, as are most of our clients. When it comes to their unique concerns and priorities, we can relate. Unlike larger recruitment agencies, we take the time to listen to our clients’ needs in detail. We take into account all the aspects, things like the business model, products and services, and of course, the working culture. We aim to be friendly, approachable, but most of all transparent, in everything we do, and we’re always available to answer any questions our clients may have. All this translates to a highly personalised service perfectly suited to a small to medium-sized business that, in short, offers more value for money than if they did it themselves.
It’s because we understand the challenges of small to medium-sized businesses that we offer two types of service: we recruit for permanent roles, but we also supply virtual assistants on a monthly, retained basis (based on a ‘bucket’ of hours). This latter option is a way to give our clients more flexibility, especially if they’re not ready to move into full-time hiring yet. Working in this way helps our clients to scale, allowing them to stay focused on the strategic priorities of the business and giving them the freedom to choose exactly when they transition to a bigger commitment.
How we source our candidates is something we’re very specific about. We don’t just reel in and fire off CVs. We talk them through with each candidate and we’re in constant contact throughout the recruitment process. We’re very meticulous about references, and very thorough about getting feedback from the client on the matches we send over. Over time, across a range of industries and platforms, we’ve built a comprehensive network of contacts that we consult with regularly to find the best talent – and when we do, we really look after them.

I’ve been genuinely blown away by the service I received from PA Business Support – they only provide the type of customer service that you could normally only hope for. PA Business Support is invested in their clients as well as their candidates and they go out of the way to take the time to get to know you.
Sophie and Sabina have built a fantastic bespoke service that really does deliver, and I am lucky to have discovered them during my recruitment process.  Whilst I won’t be using them again anytime soon (hopefully!), I’ll be sure to recommend them to anyone looking for a recruitment company that actually wants to help make a difference. Thank you for everything!’

When it comes to choosing a recruitment agency, many of our clients – and candidates –have told us that the main difference between a good experience and a bad one comes down to how the agency looks after them. At PA Business Support, we place great emphasis on client and candidate care. We’ve built a business that values relationships, where we aim to be as supportive as possible, and encourage honesty and openness at every opportunity. It sounds like a cliché, but when we say we’re genuinely passionate about people, we say it because we learned very quickly from the start that nothing is more rewarding than making both the candidate and the client happy.
So to sum up, we know that when budgets are tight and worries are high, many small businesses are reluctant to talk to a recruitment agency. However, once you’ve found the right agency, you’ll wonder why you even hesitated doing it in first place. 2021 is going to be a very unpredictable year, but it’s also going to be full of opportunities – so if you’re a small business you need to act now. The future might be uncertain, but it’s a lot more dangerous to sit and do nothing!
